Broken Record

At 700 gbp ($1,100 USD) Dogwood - Them Can't Blow Breath (Rising Star 7") currently holds the title as most expensive reggae digital vinyl record.

The forces of supply and demand determined the price, so not much to say regarding the value.

Its quite fascinating to think that the $1,100 USD price tag likely exceeded all manufacturing and production costs of this title when it was released in the late 80s.

Cryonic Dread

"The Big Thaw" - Miami Vice (1987). An odd episode about a cryogenically frozen reggae star. "He looks a little bit stoned...." Yup, it's that bad but still worth a watch. Black Uhuru - What Is Life is played at the end of the episode.

Monday, August 1, 2011

Kamehameha the King!

Earl Sundance - Kamehameha The King! (1987). Sweet bass driven computerized tune about former Hawaiian King "Kamehameha The Great." Originally released on US press 7" in 1987 on the "Elf King Lore" label.

Strange as pineapple topping on pizza, but it works..Welcome (again) to the world of random and ubiquitous 80's digital reggae. Big Up Pacific Region.
