Digital boom shot on the Canada based Classic Sounds label. At the current price of 350 GBP (approx. $560 USD), this is the highest price I've seen on ebay for a JA digital 7" record. If anyone knows the artist, drop me a message.

When I first heard this tune, I had a sudden flash back to my childhood playing Nintendo games, especially Super Mario's World & Zelda. The pulsating digital keys are reminiscent of the haunted castle level in Mario. The production style is unique and the vocals also sound great. The artist is Babsy Dixon. Another Candian Classic Sounds gem. listen

Nothing like dropping the needle on a 7" of "cocain" and having flashbacks of Nancy Regan's "Just Say No" PSA's. Among social epidemic themed tunes, such as AIDS, the amount of anti-coke tracks released number in the hundreds, many were so bad that they had a reverse effect. listen (only a 1:00 long, if you want the full effect contact your local dealer)

Pirates On Shore Searching For Gold

"Pirates On Shore" (Classic Sounds 7", '88)
Monstrous bass-driven digital tune by unknown artist Humble Lion. The tune is about the discovery of the new world by "pirates" (Columbus) & the exploitation of native peoples in the search for gold. It's hard to believe a reggae tune exists regarding such a random topic, but it does, have a listen.

Rather Die If We Can't Be Free

"South Africa" (Attic LP, '85)

In the 80s hundreds of "South Africa" themed songs were released. Leroy Sibbles version follows the same pattern, but with a lot of FX Gunshots and bunch of computerized effects thrown in. The tune is on the "Mean While" album, which is fairly easy to find online (check Ernie Bs). listen

Respect Due & It Can't Mildew

"Come Follow Me" (Jah Youth, '89)
Combine the voices of White Mice, Yami Bolo and Little Kirk and you will get Canadian artist Destry Don. "Come Follow Me" is a fun, uplifting tune backed with fresh sounding synths and a thumping bassline. All European , New York and Canadian massive gets a shout-out here. I first discovered this one about a decade ago and it hasn't got stale. Listen

Horace Martin - Ruff We Ruff (Classic Sounds)

"Ruff We Ruff" (Classic Sounds, '88)
Only 2:30 long, Horace Martin's "Ruff We Ruff" is short but twice strong. The layered and at times discordant production features sleigh bells and other percussionary delights. Released on the the Canadian Classic Sounds (coolest design!) label, it is truly a rare digital gem. listen
